Shō Poetry Journal is a publication of Beggar Poet Press (EIN 33-1626394), a 501(c)(3) public charity with tax-exempt status recognized by the IRS. All donations are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law.
Donations to Shō Poetry Journal via Beggar Poet Press allow us to:
- Produce a twice-yearly print journal that features the work of 40 – 50 poets in each issue, many of whom are emerging or early-career poets;
- Mail out a free print copy of Shō to every contributor (including international contributors) and provide US-based contributors with extra discounted copies;
- Award editors’ prizes of $150 each to the two best poems in each issue (the Shō Poetry Prize and the Sita Martin Prize for emerging poets);
- Pay a small honorarium to emerging artists who create cover art tailored specifically to each issue;
- Provide complimentary copies to venues that make the work available and accessible to the public.
We currently accept donations via Zelle (please contact us to proceed) or check. Checks sent by individuals must be made out to our nonprofit publisher “Beggar Poet Press” and mailed to:
