ABOUT THE SITA MARTIN PRIZE
The Sita Martin Prize is named after Shō Poetry Journal’s founding editor, who started Shō in 2001 to promote unheralded poets in her immediate writing community.
The prize-winning poet receives $150 and a one-year subscription to Shō Poetry Journal.
The winner will be given the opportunity to read their work (or designate a person to read on their behalf) for an Audio Feature, which will be posted to Instagram and to our website.
All poems accepted for publication will be considered for the Sita Martin Prize, assuming the eligibility requirements listed below are met.
Eligibility
The Sita Martin Prize is given to honor a poem or group of poems by a poet based in the United States who has not yet published a full-length collection of poetry.
